Kinstone unveils an ambitious proposal for a 15-storey luxury hotel at the prominent corner of 70 Merivale Street and 38-40 Cordelia Street, South Brisbane.
The five-star development, positioned alongside the established Novotel, is designed to enrich the area’s upscale accommodation portfolio.
With 137 elegantly appointed rooms, the project is envisioned to cater to both discerning business and leisure travellers, offering seamless access to Brisbane’s vibrant Convention & Exhibition Centre and the renowned South Bank precinct.
Design and Architecture: Bates Smart Architects designed the hotel with a warm-toned facade inspired by Brisbane Tuff stone, accented with terracotta podium screening for a softer urban impact. A unique vertical notch with greenery will reduce the visual mass and increase sunlight at street level, especially in the laneway connecting the site to surrounding public areas.
Public Laneway: A pedestrian-friendly laneway will link Merivale and Cordelia Streets, featuring sub-tropical landscaping, food and beverage outlets, and seating, aiming to enhance connectivity and create a vibrant streetscape in line with Brisbane City Council’s vision.
Amenities and Facilities: The hotel offers luxury amenities including a wellness centre with an infinity-edge pool, spa, and gym on level 13, and a rooftop restaurant with indoor and outdoor dining on level 14, providing panoramic views of the Brisbane skyline and Musgrave Park. A ground-floor all-day dining restaurant and a cafe will also be available along the laneway.
Project Scale: The 10,000m² hotel covers a site area of 3,646m², with a height of 15 storeys (~60 metres).
Access and Parking: The hotel will include 19 parking spaces, on-site bike facilities, and four elevators, two for guests, one service lift, and one dedicated to the rooftop.
Project Partners and Specifications:
Kinstone’s hotel development harmonises with Brisbane’s evolution as a premier destination for luxury hospitality, promising a refined and vibrant experience that will engage visitors and elevate the city’s cosmopolitan appeal.
