Project Engineer role on a landmark technical build in Melbourne’s west, with years of staged work ahead and genuine progression built in.
This isn’t a short-term project. It’s part of a billion-dollar, multi-stage development that will run over the next four to five years. The current stage alone sits north of $500M and is already tracking ahead of programme.
You’ll be joining a privately owned builder that has built its name around technically demanding, services-led projects across data centres, healthcare and education. They are structured, delivery-focused and consistent. Not loud, not political, just well run.
The culture feels different to a Tier 1 environment. Expectations are high, but so is the support. Leaders are accessible, ego is left at the gate, and people are trusted to do their job properly. The site itself reflects that mindset, properly set up, organised and built for long-term delivery rather than short-term chaos.
You’ll report to a Project Manager and work within a broader engineering team, each owning different elements of the services package. Your scope will cover services coordination, procurement support, subcontractor management and short-term programme control. You’ll help keep sequencing aligned with commissioning and overall delivery, working closely with consultants and client-side teams to manage risk, reporting and technical detail.
Forefront has partnered with this builder across a number of key hires as they’ve grown. Several of the engineers we’ve placed have stepped into more senior roles as new stages have commenced. The pathway to Senior Project Engineer here is real, not just something written into an advert.
This will suit someone who has delivered on large, services-driven builds such as data centres, hospitals, laboratories or complex infrastructure projects. Backgrounds in electrical contracting, mechanical services, commissioning or services coordination will translate well. Head contractor experience is advantageous. Australian Citizenship is essential.
Salary is up to $170k + super depending on experience. The project is based in Melbourne’s western suburbs.
