You don’t often see client-side roles that put you this close to the delivery of major HV infrastructure.
This position sits on the delivery side of hyperscale data centre projects in Melbourne’s west, focused specifically on high voltage and medium voltage infrastructure. You’ll be leading the delivery of terminal stations and substations, working across 220kV, 132kV, 66kV and 11kV systems, with full visibility from early works through to commissioning and handover.
This isn’t a desk-based PM role. It’s site-led, technical, and heavily involved in real decision making. You’ll be the link between contractors, consultants, and network providers, making sure the HV scope is delivered safely, correctly, and on programme.
What stands out here is the environment. The team is growing quickly, there are multiple live projects, and you’ll be working directly with senior leadership who are hands-on but not overbearing. There’s structure where it matters, but you’re trusted to run your scope.
The work itself is complex and genuinely interesting. You’ll be overseeing AIS and GIS substations, transformers, HV switchgear, cabling, and all associated systems, while managing interfaces with Victorian transmission and distribution authorities.
You’ll also be involved in reviewing designs, managing risk, tracking programme, and ensuring safe delivery in live HV environments. Commissioning and testing phases are a big part of the role, so experience seeing projects through to completion is important.
This role will suit someone who has come up through HV construction, either from an electrical engineering background or trade pathway, and has stepped into project management. You’ll need experience delivering substations or terminal station projects and be comfortable working with utilities and supply authorities in Victoria.
Data centre experience is helpful but not essential. What matters more is your understanding of HV infrastructure and your ability to manage complex packages and stakeholders.
You’ll need to be someone who communicates clearly, takes ownership, and is comfortable operating in a safety-critical environment where decisions have real consequences.
The role is based on site in Melbourne’s western suburbs, with a package up to $220k + bonus, depending on experience.
